The Front Door Problem
May 20,2026 – By Richard Andrade -Operations Manager
Passwords are the broccoli of cybersecurity. Not glamorous. Very important. Often ignored. As World Password Day approaches on May 7, it is the perfect reminder to reconsider where security really begins. Spoiler alert. It usually starts with identity.
Many organizations invest heavily in perimeter defenses like firewalls, antivirus tools, and monitoring platforms. Those tools matter, but they all assume one thing. That the person logging in is supposed to be there.
Attackers have learned to take advantage of that assumption. Learn more.
How Attackers Get the Keys
Rather than breaking systems, attackers increasingly rely on stolen credentials, reused passwords, and convincing phishing emails. Once they have a valid login, they do not need to force anything. They simply walk through the front door.
That is why passwords still matter so much, even today. Weak or reused credentials quietly undermine otherwise strong security controls.
Small Changes, Big Impact
Improving identity security does not require a massive overhaul.
Use long, unique passphrases instead of short passwords
Enable multi factor authentication wherever possible
Encourage password managers rather than memory or sticky notes
Begin exploring password-less options like passkeys or biometrics
Identity may not be flashy, but it decides who gets access. And in modern security, access is everything.
Wondering how your organization handles identity today? We are always happy to talk through what a stronger, more modern approach could look like.
